Plans for a wind farm offshore from Newhaven to Shoreham have been withdrawn by E.ON until the company has carried out further consultation.

In December the energy company said it had made changes to its proposals for Rampion Offshore Wind Farm after listening to feedback before submitting them to the Planning Inspectorate.

However, this week an E.ON spokesperson said: “Since submitting the Development Consent Order (DCO) application for the Rampion Project on December 14, we have identified some areas that we need to add to the application.

“We want the application to be complete before the Planning Inspectorate decides whether to accept it and the only way to do this is to withdraw it and resubmit again as soon as we are ready.

“We remain completely committed to the project, but wish to take extra time now to maintain our comprehensive approach to consultation.”

The spokesperson said the company wanted to consult with councils like Surrey which were a distance from the proposed wind farm and resubmit the plans in February.
