A new multimedia production about Dora Maar and her intense relationship during the 1930s with Pablo Picasso will be staged in Lewes on Tuesday February 3.
Written by Caribbean-British poet Grace Nichols, the work is set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War and features projected images, performed text and flamenco music and dance.
The Flamenco element is provided by Amor Flamenco - featuring guitarist José León, dancer Ana Dueñas León and singer Julio Lopez Fuentes - who evoke through music and dance the subtle layers and powerful impulses of this emotionally charged relationship.
Dora Maar was a well-known surrealist photographer in her own right and the face behind Picasso’s iconic ‘Weeping Woman’.
It features actress Sibylle Bernardin as Dora and Michael D’Cruze as Picasso. Performance begins 7.45pm at the All Saints Centre. Tickets: £10 in advance from www.leweslivelit.co.uk or £12 on the door
