THE TOWN of Lewes is bracing itself for an invasion of enthusiastic walkers who will come over the hills – albeit by train - from Polegate.
Polegate Strollers want to do a circular walk around the town during a free-of-charge jaunt to which everyone is invited, regardless of walking ability.
They will board a train at 10.03am and arrive at 10.30am this Tuesday, November 22.
The first target to be explored by the happy hiking group will be Southover Church, followed by Southover Grange with its gardens and trees.
Organiser Jayne Bigsby said: “We will then accend up a steep hill to the High Street before visiting Lewes Castle grounds and the Town Hall.
“We will be met by the Deputy Mayor for a tour of the building and its art works with lunch in the Corn Exchange before decending down toward the famous Harvey’s brewery and river Ouse.
“We will then be following the footsteps of the Priory Monks back to the Train Station for approximately 2.15pm.”
