A NEW SHOP will be allowed to sell alcohol after the licensing authority gave permission – despite concerns from residents.
Objection letters were sent to Wealden District Council about the premises licence for ‘your shop’ – a new off licence planned at 41 Farmlands Way in Polegate.
People were worried about a possible increase in anti-social behaviour, a risk of children getting access to drink, and an increase in traffic along the quiet street.
Wealden District Council’s licensing sub committee discussed the plan at a meeting in Crowborough on August 23.
A council document noted: “The sub-committee appreciated these concerns, however, they related to problems that might occur rather than being evidence of problems associated with these particular premises.”
A premises licence was granted by the sub-committee subject to various conditions.
