Police appeal after jewellery stolen in Crowborough burglary

SUSSEX Police are hunting five people who broke into the Crowborough home of a jeweller on Thursday evening (April 12), threatening the occupants and making off with gold, silver and platinum items.

The raiders, believed to be all men, struck at the house in Ghyll Road around 9.20pm, breaking through a door with sledgehammers and then filling shopping bags with the items, some of which were dropped outside as they escaped.

All of the offenders were dressed in black with polo necks pulled up over the lower half of their faces and with hooded tops or scarves covering all but their eyes.

They appeared to be black or very dark-skinned.

Anyone who saw the men in Ghyll Road around the time of the incident or acting suspiciously in the area during the evening or indeed, anytime leading up to it, is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Ridgeway.
