Police are investigating a break-in at an overnight storage unit belonging to Elite Frozen Foods in Avis Way, Newhaven.

The incident happened between 2.45pm and 5.45pm on Sunday (April 19) when a white man, of medium build, and wearing dark trousers, a dark baseball bat and dark hooded top bearing a white emblem on the chest, entered the site, police said.

He forced his way into the frozen food unit and emerged with a quantity of food products. He also stole a high-visibilty vest to try to blend in with his surroundings, police said.

PC Anna Batchelor said: “This happened in broad daylight and several people were known to be in the area.

“I would urge anyone who recalls the incident or who saw anything suspicious to contact police.”
