Police seek witnesses to Firle lorry collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision between two lorries on the A27 at Firle, near Lewes, which blocked the road, caused injury and led to traffic disruption during the peak period.

The crash happened at 7.58am on Monday (July 11) and involved a yellow Volvo 320 truck travelling west and a white Isuzu Easy Shift travelling east.

The Volvo driver, a 27-year-old man from Darlington, County Durham, suffered a serious leg injury and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he was detained for treatment.

The Isuzu driver, a 41-year-old man from Newhaven, suffered facial cuts and shock, and his passenger, a 56-year-old man, also from Newhaven, suffered shock. Both were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Anyone who saw the collision or noticed either vehicle being driven shortly beforehand is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 231 of 11/07.
