A PARTY in Friston Forest organised via the internet social networking website Facebook was stopped by police.
The advertised gathering involving lots of music and drink was planned for Friston on Saturday, June 2. But Wealden Police, following an intelligence report, stopped the party from happening. That day, the Wealden District Commander, Chief Insp Dick Coates issued a Twitter warning: “Police are at Friston Forest to prevent any unlawful gathering. If you or your friends intend to come - please don’t. We will turn you away.”
Chief Insp Coates told the Sussex Express: “I attended before they had set up and when people started to arrive we advised them against it. They all decided to go home. Also the weather was not good.
“We probably advised some 200 people to go home which they did. There were no incidents and they were very nice people. The land owners were very pleased.”
