HAILSHAM residents are being given the opportunity to have their say on the future of their town by Hailsham Town Council.
The survey, found on the Hailsham Town Council website, www.hailsham-tc.gov.uk/thewayforward.html, enables residents and visitors to put forward their ideas on the council’s policy document of key activity in terms of business development and revitalisation of the town.
Preliminary work carried out by the council earlier this year highlighted a number of key objectives Hailsham needs to realise:
· Economic revitalisation of the business community
· Protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment
· Effective and sustainable infrastructure
· Safety and security in the whole community
· Health and wellbeing of residents and visitors
The first draft of Hailsham: The Way Forward, can also be found on the website.
Described by the Town Mayor Cllr Jeff Bentley-Astor as a ‘top priority for kick-starting the local economy of Hailsham’, it has a wide ranging remit and includes options that can be funded and delivered by the Town Council itself or in partnership with other authorities.
Cllr Nick Collinson, Chairman of the Town Council’s Business Development Committee, said: “The key focus of the Plan will be on the revitalisation of the town centre, but also includes key objectives and actions that will aim to improve the whole town for the benefit of all sections of the local community.
“The survey is a chance for everyone to have their say and influence the future of the town.
“It’s crucial we gather as much feedback as possible and I would encourage everyone to contribute to this and future consultations.”
