IF YOU are planning to get married then Lewes is set to have a new venue for your ceremony.
Lewes District Council planners agreed on Wednesday The Garden Room at its Lewes House base in the High Street could be used to hold civil ceremonies and the neighbouring garden for reception functions during weekends.
The ground floor room of the grade II listed building will be used from 9am to 11pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays to protect residents from noise and amplified sound will be restricted so it can’t be heard beyond the site boundary.
A report before the planning applications committee said the premises were in use as offices for the council during the working week and there would be no alterations to the building.
Officers recommended restricting the hours as flats in Broomans Lane and Church Twitten overlooked and could be affected by noise.
