A seven-strong team of runners from a Hastings firm is taking part in Sunday’s half marathon to raise cash for a children’s charity.
Lawrence Glaze, Joe Johnson, Rachael White, Annette Fry, Helen Munday, Hannah Hayler and Josh Hayler, from Marshall-Tufflex, on the Churchfields Industrial Estate, are pounding the streets in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

The charity currently supports more than 20 families in Hastings and St Leonards, delivering specialist nursing and respite care.
Hannah Hayler, team trainer and experienced runner, who is also tackling the London Marathon for Demelza in April, said: “Everyone has been training really hard and putting in lots of time and effort, often on dark, cold and rainy evenings. The training is not only raising money for a good cause and improving staff morale but has also given some of the team the running bug.”
The company’s team is called Marshall Tuff Legs and members hope to raise £2,000 for Demelza. The team has been training since last September.
Julie Brett, Demelza’s community fundraiser for East Sussex, said: “We’re supporting lots of families with our Hospice at Home service, which allows poorly children to receive care in their own home. We also provide respite care which is a vital part of our service. We’re immensely grateful for fundraising help and wish all the half marathon runners the very best. I’ll be there to cheer them on. I am absolutely thrilled with the continued support from Marshall-Tufflex and really appreciate the hard training that the Tuff Legs team has been putting in. We help so many families in Hastings and St Leonards and really need the support of the business community and local people to help us raise the necessary funds. We literally can’t run our services without their fundraising.”
Demelza’s community team provides a Hospice at Home care service for more than 150 families throughout East Sussex. Families living in East Sussex also benefit from respite breaks at hospices in Sittingbourne and south east London. To support Marshall Tuff Legs visit www.justgiving.com/Marshall-tufflegs.
