The Swingshift Big Band holds a charity ‘Christmas Cracker’ concert at 7.30pm on Thursday, December 19 in the concert hall of St Leonards-Mayfield School.

The well-known 18-piece band is extremely popular. Their leader, Jonathan Bailey has a background of playing with jazz exponents such as Joe Loss and Syd Lawrence as well as managing other jazz bands. The Swingshift will be performing Christmas favourites featuring Aprile Biggs, an accomplished vocalist. The concert has been sponsored by Mr and Mrs Alan Parry and Mr and Mrs John Clayton. Tickets cost £15 from Rosina Fabrics in Mayfield High Street. Organisers say this is a great start to the festive season and cannot be missed. Proceeds go to the Hospice in the Weald.
