Quality Streets event in Newhaven

LEWES Neighbourhood Policing Team will hold a Quality Street event in Newhaven on Tuesday (January 31).

The event will kick off in the town centre from 12pm until 2pm.

PCSO Lizzie Sword-Daniels said: “During this event, Officers will be conducting high visibility patrols as part of designated actions to tackle local priorities.

“The local council representative will be visiting the taxi rank to remind drivers of the pedestrian precinct rules.”

There will be extra street sweeping patrols and efforts will be made to clean the car park stairwells.

Licensing officers will visit locations and speak to people about issues surrounding shoplifting offences. Public health officers will assess areas where action is required to reduce rubbish.

The council animal warden will patrol the area to identify issues surrounding dog fouling and will speak with residents about concerns.

Police will be available in the town centre to answer questions and East Sussex Fire and Rescue service will be book home safety visits and free smoke alarm checks for those interested. For more information contact police on the non emergency number 101.
