PetLink is Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare’s outreach pet fostering project for families fleeing domestic abuse across Sussex.
Every year, thousands of men, women and children are affected by domestic abuse and for many families leaving these violent situations there are very few options available to them regarding their pets.
PetLink aims to ease this pressure by placing these much loved family pets into temporary foster care.
PetLink is running at an all time high in terms of the amount of client referrals it is receiving, so is urgently looking for additional volunteer cat foster carers in Sussex.
The benefits of becoming a PetLink foster carer are:
Helping families, pets and children flee domestic abuse;
Having the pleasure of caring for a pet without making a lifetime commitment;
There is little or no cost as PetLink provides all equipment and food and covers veterinary care throughout the placement;
Raystede can provide the pet with either a cattery or kennel space to cover holidays.
Requirements of becoming a PetLink foster carer:
Be a minimum of 18 years of age;
Having experience of caring for animals;
Being able to transport the pet to a vet in an emergency;
Being able to commit to the project for a minimum of six months.
