RIDGEWOOD MANOR Nursing Home has finally closed its doors in spite of assurances given by owners that it would remain open in the immediate future.
The last of the elderly residents were moved out on March 16.
In January, nursing home boss Zaheed Pradhan from owners, the Kingston -upon-Thames-based company Halcyon Care, told the Express some staff had been given notice ‘as their services might not be needed in the long run’ but the home was still taking in patients for respite care.
This week a relative of a former staff member said: “Today it came to light that the owners had indeed sold the land some time ago but decided not to tell staff in case they decided to leave.”
The Express was also told that no money had been spent recently on the home, which desperately needed work doing. This included a lift which was broken meaning elderly people could not get downstairs.
