The chairman of the Seahaven Branch of The Royal Society of St George is appealing for all buildings, churches, groups or individuals in the Seahaven and Lewes Districts who have bells, to ring them out at 6pm on St George’s Day (Wednesday April 23).
Bob Peedle MBE said there was a growing list of cities, towns and counties which had signed up to the campaign which aimed to celebrate England’s national day.
The Seahaven Branch will hold its annual church service at 6pm on Wednesday April 23 at St Andrew’s Church in Alfriston followed by a formal dinner in Deans Place Hotel, also in Alfriston.
Visits to schools or meetings by a member of the branch to talk about St George’s Day and the group can be arranged.
The area of interest to the Seahaven Branch is the District of Lewes with surrounding towns and villages.
Organisations thinking about celebrating England’s national day can contact Bob on 01323 899985 or email to email@example.com to discuss possibilities.
For more information about the bell ringing campaign go to www.ringingforengland.co.uk and if you can help, contact the chairman Bob. The Seahaven branch also appealed for them to send pictures and information about what they do by email to Bob or by post to 15 Alfriston Park, Seaford, BN25 3LS.
