Ringmer man releases biography of Nick Clegg

A RINGMER man has written the first biography of Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

The book, by Chris Bowers, is based on interviews with more than 50 friends, family members and colleagues of the Lib Dem leader.

Chris, of Greenacres Drive, Ringmer, is of course no stranger to politics. He is the Lib Dem member for Ouse Valley and Ringmer on Lewes District Council and stood as a parliamentary candidate for Wealden in last year’s General Election.

The election was a breakthrough moment in British politics for the Liberal Democrats.

By forming an historic coalition partnership with the Conservatives, Clegg steered them into government, something they could not have dared think about only weeks previously.

The book gives the background on who Nick Clegg really is and what drives him.

It charts his rise from MEP to Deputy Prime Minister and lynchpin in the historic coalition government.

It also looks at the extraordinary family history that helps define him as a politician and the incidents in his own past that have threatened to derail him.

Writer and broadcaster Chris is best known as a commentator on tennis, having reported from the world’s top tournaments for a variety of media.

In 2006 he wrote the first English language biography of ace Roger Federer.

Nick Clegg The Biography is published by Biteback Publishing and priced at £18.99.
