Wealden Neighbourhood Policing Team has completed an Operation Creosote afternoon of action in Hailsham.
It follows an increase in reports of thefts from garages and sheds. A team of PCSOs, police officers and a Neighbourhood Watch volunteer knocked on 87 doors, meeting 77 residents, on April 6.
The face to face meeting meant police officers were able to give crime prevention advice to residents in their homes.
During the day 55 items of property were marked with anti-tamper stickers; 12 were signed up to the Community Messaging system keeping them updated about policing related issues in the future.
PCSO Faye Fletcher said: “This afternoon has been great. We have met lots of residents and helped them secure their property. We are very grateful to the local Neighbourhood Watch members for their support today.”
