Road rage attack in Telscombe Cliffs sparks police appeal

SUSSEX Police are appealing for witnesses following a road rage incident in Telscombe Cliffs on Saturday afternoon (May 12) on the A259 South Coast Road, which resulted in a man being assaulted.

The victim, a 34-year-old local man, was driving his blue Seat towards Peacehaven when he realised he was being tailgated by a black Range Rover.

The vehicle pulled in front of him, causing him to swerve, and the driver then got out and threatened him.

After the verbal altercation, both cars carried on driving along the A259 and then stopped at the next set of traffic lights at the junction of South Coast Road and Telscombe Cliffs Way.

The Range Rover driver again got out of his car and proceeded to grab the victim through the open window, then kick the Seat on the bumper.

A police spokesperson said: “Although the victim wasn’t seriously injured, he was very shaken by the assault. “This incident happened at about 5.45pm and we believe that a number of cars were at the traffic lights at the time.

“We are anxious to hear from anyone who saw what happened but has not contacted police and would urge them to call us on 101, quoting serial 1311 of 12 May.”
