Peacehaven MP Simon Kirby welcomed the news that Royal Mail has decided not to move the Peacehaven delivery depot out of the town.
Simon, who was given the good news during a recent tour of the depot, said: “This is great news for Peacehaven.
“Since September 2011 I have campaigned on this issue alongside local residents and councillors, raising concerns about the impact on residents, particularly the elderly, and I am delighted that Royal Mail has listened to those concerns.”
The MP said Peacehaven was a large town and it was important there were adequate facilities and employment opportunities in the area, adding he always thought Peacehaven was the correct location for this facility.
“Thank you to Peacehaven town councillors and residents for their work on this campaign, and to everyone who took the time to sign my online petition”
