SAFETY issues have been highlighted on the C7 Lewes to Newhaven road.
They had been raised by Iana Jacobson, the Conservative candidate for Kingston, Rodmell and Southease in the forthcoming Lewes District Council elections.
She discussed her concerns with Cllr Matthew Lock, Lead Member for Transport and Environment at East Sussex County Council.
Residents of Kingston, Iford, Northease, Rodmell and Piddinghoe, have been expressing concern for some time regarding access on to the road.
Mrs Jacobson said: “I’ve been out and about for a while talking to local people, and the subject they keep bringing up is access at some of the junctions - they can be quite dangerous, especially at night.
“I just thought it was time to raise the issue directly. While the 50mph helps reduce speed, we need to look at other improvements to increase safety.”
Cllr Lock welcomed the meeting. He said: “I shall certainly be taking a look at improving safety along the C7, and I am looking forward to working with Iana and the other residents to see how we can improve the situation for everybody concerned.”
