A date has been set for the beginning of a public consultation into a proposed new children’s play area in Seaford.
The consultation for The Salts Recreation Ground on Marine Parade will run online for two weeks from April 2 until April 19.
There will also be displays and survey questionnaires at The Salts Cafe.
Tender invitations were sent to five play area specialists by the park’s owners Seaford Town Council, asking them to submit design proposals for a new children’s play space at The Salts.
This follows agreement with Lewes District Council to release more than £200,000 from money received for leisure as a result of new housing in the town.
The scheme to rejuvenate the park also includes improved tennis courts and skate park.
This consultation is about the play area only.
The public will be asked to select their favourite design from the range of proposals from play manufacturers.
These proposals include 3D aspect views of the design, a coloured plan for each, and a storyboard offering a description of the individual manufacturers design process.
The public will also have the opportunity to make comments on any relevant factors about their selected design, which will be taken into account to the start of the project.
A spokesman for Seaford Town Council said: “The manufacturers have been working to a design brief that was developed using the feedback from the public consultation in 2013, which also provided the groundwork for producing The Salts Development Plan.
“Following the consultation, the results will be counted and feedback comments assessed.
“Then once the nominated manufacturer is confirmed, the winning design will be reviewed to ensure the best final result for the users of The Salts.”

The spokesman added: “The town council is actively developing projects and seeking funding for the other aspects of the plan and welcomes any feedback or suggestions.
“The next significant development stages will be focussed on tennis courts, skate park and proposed MUGA (Multiple Use Games Area), as well as related cycling aspects.”
Speaking earlier in the month a spokesman for Seaford Town Council said: “A combination of displays set up in selected venues and online survey options will be used.
“The end result will be the play area selected will be that favoured by the people of Seaford.
“Time is of the essence, following the dates that have been provisionally planned, the play space is proposed to be completed ahead of the summer holidays ensuring that The Salts can provide the long awaited quality of service that Seaford residents have been asking for.”
