Santa rides the Bluebell Railway

THIS YEAR there will be a new Christmas experience on the Bluebell Railway.

On the frequent service between Sheffield Park and Horsted Keynes from 11.00am until 3.30pm Santa will visit every child on board with a gift.

All younger children will receive a free ride on the juvenile roundabout in Sheffield Park forecourt.

The train drops visitors off at Horsted Keynes wherer they will have about 40 minutes before their train leaves. Refreshments such as mulled wine, mince pies, hot chestnuts and other goodies will be available.

Victorian street entertainers will be buzzing around the station and to complete the period theme, there are also traditional fairground stalls including hoopla, splat the rat and a shooting gallery at 20p a go.

Historic Horsted Keynes Station is the venue for Santa and the snowmen’s marquee. With the back drop of snow and station buildings, photos are welcomed whilst children are telling Santa which presents they would like this Christmas in the winter marquee.

Back at Sheffield Park there’s the chance to take a look around the new museum, visit the engine shed, have a bite to eat in the Bessemer Arms or do extra Christmas shopping in the gift and souvenir shop. The Christmas specials will run on Saturdays and Sundays from December 3 to December 24. Visitors can also find out about progress made to extend the famous line to East Grinstead.
