Campaigners will take to the streets to drum up support for the 38 Degrees “Save our NHS” movement.
Members of the Eastbourne 38 Degrees group will be campaigning in Eastbourne town centre on Saturday ‘to protect the NHS against the destructive effects of further privatisation’. Concerned residents are invited to join the petition campaign, meeting at 11am on “Bankers’ Corner” in Terminus Road.
A 38 Degrees campaigner said, “There is rapidly growing concern around Eastbourne regarding changes to the NHS. In particular, this focuses on our local hospital, where departments are closing and staff are leaving as services are relocated to other hospitals or are shifted to the private sector. These changes happening on a local level are mirrored by similar changes at the national level, all of which are the direct consequence of the 2012 Health and Social Care Act – undoubtedly the most radical and destructive shake-up of our NHS since its very foundation.”
