SHE may not have a Royal background but one very special woman has a unique place in the hearts of children at a village primary school.
School cook Doreen Bayley celebrated her 60th birthday with pupils at Herstmonceux Primary School on Friday, June 1.
The hard working caterer was given a surprise birthday cake during a Queen’s Jubilee themed buffet.
The sumptuous feast included wraps, pitta bread and bread rolls filled with ham, tuna, cheese or egg.
Pizza slices also appeared on tables along with sausage rolls and vegetable sticks. Ice cream tubs and fresh fruit polished off the jolly event.
Children, wearing their home clothes, were encouraged to bring cupcake donations to the school and there was a street party that afternoon.
