AN ORCHESTRA will be pushing the boat out for Seaford Lifeguards when it performs a fundraising concert.

Seaford’s talented Rock and Jazz Orchestra will play the Seaford Constitutional Club on September 16.

The evening promises jazz and rock favourites, with dancing, a bar and raffle.

Orchestra spokesperson Peter White said: “This surf-rescue and beach-patrolling group do valiant work all summer in Seaford Bay.

“They are highly trained, working with RNLI and HM Coastguard, and always need funds to buy and maintain their hi-tech equipment and run their training programme.

“Come and Boogie and Bop for a good cause!”

Seaford Rock and Jazz Orchestra have been together for ten years and is made up of 30 plus musicians aged nine to 25.

Starting as a school band they have toured to Venice, Paris and Barcelona.

In Seaford this year they have played for Summer Balls, the Diamond Jubilee and Seaford Fun Day.

This is their last gig until the Christmas festivities begin and will be suitable for all ages and all tastes.

The concert is taking place on the last night of the week-long annual Music Festival “Seaford Live.”

It will be at Seaford Constitutional Club in Crouch Lane, from 7.30pm until 10pm.

Admission is by donation, with £3 the suggested minimum.

Donations of good raffle prizes are very welcome.

Seaford Lifeguards are voluntary lifeguards whose aims are to keep Seaford Bay free from danger, to prevent loss of life from drowning by training people from all walks of life in water safety, first aid, boat handling, radio operation and resuscitation.

Seaford Beach is patrolled at weekends and Bank Holidays from May to September, between 10am and 6pm warning beach users of the dangers of their activities, and carrying out rescues when required.

The group is always on the lookout for volunteers.
