A GREEN gym was officially opened at the Salts Recreation Ground in Seaford on Sunday April 22.
The project was led by Seaford Youth Forum which raised a whopping £20,000 from community groups to fund the facility.
The young people worked ton the project for three years, liaising with businesses and thew town council.
Youth Forum spokesperson Natalie Shapcott said: “We have been very fortunate to have many supportive local groups able to contribute to the project.
“Wicksteed agreed to let us design our own circuit where we picked our favourite exercise equipment.”
Rotary club vice president Paul Vaesen added: “I was impressed by the young people’s enthusiasm, commitment and perseverance in bringing this project to fruition.”
The forum said there was a good turnout at the event.
The green gym in Marine Parade includes a pull down exerciser, leg twister and a leg press, as well as a surfer, space walkers and rowers.
It is free to use and means people who do not want to pay for often expensive gym membership can exercise outside for free.
The forum said it would bring people of all ages together.
