POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a van and car collided - leaving a woman with serious injuries.
The 36-year-old woman from Lewes was driving her green Ford car when it collided with a yellow Mercedes van driven by a man, aged 47, from Eastbourne, travelling south east. It happened at 4pm on the A27 at Lower Dicker on March 16.
Two fire engines from Hailsham and Eastbourne joined police at the scene. The woman driver had to be cut free from her car and she suffered serious injuries.
A police spokesman said: “It is believed that a black vehicle was in the area at the time of the crash, and may have swerved to avoid a collision with the van.
“However, the motorist continued north along the A22 and has not been traced.”
Police would like to hear from the driver of the black vehicle, together with anyone else who witnessed what happened.
