SLIDESHOW: East Hoathly Jubilee

THE SUN came out in time for East Hoathly’s evening Jubilee celebrations on June 4.

People carried Chinese lanterns and processed to the bonfire site via the Foresters’ Arms and the King’s Head accompanied by village musicians Gilly and Martin Howe.

Once there, former East Sussex High Sheriff Kathy Gore gave a short speech, then Rosemary Akehurst pressed a button to ignite a pyrotechnic display and light the beacon as part of the chain across the UK.

The beacon was a splendid representation of Britannia created by local carpenter and sculptor Keith Pettit.
