SLIDESHOW: Hurspierpoint 2, Uckfield Town 1

Hurstpierpoint manager bill Clifford is delighted to have got off to an unbeaten start after two games- but he knows there’s a long way to go.

Clifford’s side snatched a victory against Uckfield Town on Saturday thanks to Dave McNeil’s last minute winner on Saturday. Clifford said: “We maybe unbeaten after two games but I don’t really look at the table until after six or seven games.

“If we hadn’t got that last minute winner we would have gone two games without a win - the lines are very fine!”

And when they travel to Rottingdean Village on Saturday, he wants his team to perform like they did in the second half against Uckfield for the full 90 minutes.

He said: “Saturday was an archetypal game of two halves.

“They were the better team at pretty much everything in the first half but our lads responded well in the second half and played much better.

“A draw would have probably been a fair result but I am happy we snatched all three points.”
