Twenty-four hours before taking her superb shots of Brighton v Chelsea – at her usual haunt of the American Express Community Stadium – Sussex sports photographer Angela Brinkhurst was at the London Olympics where she trained her expert eye on GB althetic’s golden girl, Jessica Ennis.
Angela was at the Olympic Stadium on Friday, when Jessica ran a world record time for a heptathlete in the 100m hurdles (12.54 seconds) before jumping a solid height of 1.89m in the long jump.
It was all a prelude to Jess winning Olympic Gold on the Saturday of course.
Angela, whose son Steve plays for Lewes Football Club and whose husband Paul just reached the quarter finals of the Yorkshire Tea National Village Cup with Plumpton Cricket Club, said: “What an achievement. It was such a privilege to have witnessed such an achievement.
“The atmosphere was spine-tingling.”
