FORMER Olympic swimmer Duncan Goodhew was at Peacehaven Community School today to celebrate the arrival of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Duncan, who won gold and bronze medals at the 100m breaststroke at the Moscow 1980 Olympics, brought his own Olympic torch which he ran with in Cornwall.
Children from Peacehaven schools took turns in holding it on their own Olympic torch relay, going from school to school in the town.
Duncan also gave them an inspirational speech and pupils had their pictures taken with him.
He cut the ribbon for their Olympic Opening Ceremony, which kicked off a two week celebration of the Olympics at PCS, where they will be a whole range of sporting activities for kids to enjoy.
Our photographer Peter Cripps took the photos in the slideshow, while this one of Duncan Goodhew with the pupils, was contributed by Harvey Waller, PCS administrator.
