Uckfield dropped one place to ninth in London 3 South East after a frustrating home draw with Folkestone.
Having led 12-0 and 19-3 at different times in the match, Uckfield then found themselves tied at 19-19 before a penalty kicked with five minutes left put them back ahead.
But one of many penalties conceded by the Acorns saw Folkestone draw level again to ultimately tie the match.
Uckfield were frustrated to lose the lead and not score the fourth try for a bonus point but the fortunes of both these teams has been very different this year (Folkestone are riding high in fourth) and Uckfield should be pleased with the huge step forward they made in the first half.
As ever the Uckfield side saw changes throughout, these included Tyler Smith making his first start in the back row at No 6. The most notable addition, however, was the inclusion of Ben Woods to the bench. Woods, who hadn’t played at all for two years, returned to the Acorns bench following shoulder surgery.
The hosts’ tries came from Tom George, Lee Evans and Martin Chappell with Charlie Buckland doing the kicking.
