Road users are set to benefit from smoother journeys on the A27 because of a resurfacing scheme which started on Monday (December 9) between Wilmington and Polegate.
The work will involve resurfacing sections of the carriageway and will require overnight road closures. The work is due to be completed, weather permitting, on Friday December 20.
Anita Waterton, Highways Agency project sponsor said: “We will be resurfacing just over two miles of carriageway to provide drivers with smoother journeys and ensure that the A27 remains safe and reliable. We have planned the work to be carried out in two phases and overnight, when we know traffic flows are lowest, to minimise the disruption.”
The work will be carried out overnight, between 8pm and 6am, in two phases:
• Monday December 9 to Friday December 13: the A27 between the A22 and A2270; a signed diversion will be in place via the A2270, A2021, A2280 and A22
• Monday December 16 to Friday December 20: The A27 between Thornwell Road in Wilmington and the A2270; a signed diversion will be in place via the A22 and A26.
Additional closures may be required at the weekend and will be publicised in advance.
