Lewes-based Southdown has received the official national Living Wage Employer accreditation.
Southdown employs more than 900 staff and provides housing, supported employment and specialist support services to 8,000 disabled and vulnerable people living across Sussex.
The not-for-profit organisation listens to and works with people to help them achieve their personal goals and to live fulfilled and independent lives.
The accreditation means that every employee is guaranteed at least £7.45 an hour.
According to the Living Wage organisation, more than 45,000 families have been lifted out of working poverty as a direct result of the Living Wage.
Recently, Southdown was also recognised as one of the UK’s Top Employers for Working Families.
Vikki Hayward-Cripps, Executive Director of Business at Southdown, said: “We are very proud of the supportive culture at Southdown. We don’t just talk about valuing our staff, we put in place policies and procedures that really make a difference to them.
“The Living Wage is one part of that commitment along with flexible working policies and diversity that characterises what Southdown is all about.”
