Sport Relief has announced runners who took part in the Wealden Mile in March raised £2,204.65.
The run was organised by Crowborough Leisure Centre – operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Wealden District Council.
The annual event was a huge success with over 100 people of all ages and abilities running one, three or six miles. All money went to help people living unimaginably tough lives locally, across the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries. A record-breaking £71.8 million was raised in this year’s campaign through running, swimming and cycling events and donations.
“We’re thrilled with the total raised and I’d like to congratulate all the runners who took part,” said Freedom Leisure Centre manager Aysen Sinclair. “There was a great atmosphere with plenty of supporters cheering everyone on. It was great to see people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds joining in and getting active while raising money for charity.”
