The Old England pub in St Leonards has raised almost £2,000 for Kipling children’s ward at the Conquest Hospital.

The money was raised over the last year by collecting small change from customers and through the pub’s weekly bonus ball sweepstake. The pub chose to donate the money to Kipling ward as the mother of one of its regular customers has worked on the ward since 1972.

Jackie Daubney and Steve Maple from the Old England pub recently visited the ward to present the cheque. Caroline Stephenson, practice educator, Kipling ward, said: “We would like to thank Jackie, Steve and all the staff and customers of the Old England pub for their generous donation. With this money we will be buying several pieces of much-needed equipment to help care for the children on the ward.”
