NO more miserable Mondays.
The Picture House Uckfield has unveiled plans for ‘The Laughter Lounge’ – a regular monthly comedy club, which will feature a first-class line-up of acts.
These began this week - on Monday, April 4 - and from now on will be held on the first Monday of each month.
The Laughter Lounge will include some of the circuit’s top stand-up comedians and it promises to be the perfect antidote to what is traditionally the gloomiest night of the week.
Picture House owner Kevin Markwick said: “There is definitely a call in the Uckfield area for quality live stand-up.
“Unlike some larger, more impersonal venues, it enables the performers to really engage with the audience and give their absolute best.”
Monday’s line up featured Robin Ince, co-presenter, with Professor Brian Cox, of BBC Radio 4’s The Infinite Monkey Cage and creator of the sell out smash Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People.
Robin was Chortle Award Winner 2009, winner of the Time Out Outstanding Comedy Achievement Award and was nominated for the British Comedy Award - Best Stage Show for Robin Ince’s Book Club.
Robin has also toured with Ricky Gervais.
“We’re offering a great night out in relaxed and comfortable surroundings and at a fraction of what you might expect to pay for entertainment of this class elsewhere,” continued Kevin Markwick.
“There’s no longer any need to travel to Brighton or London to get your laughter fix because it’s right here on your doorstep.
“Seats are limited, so we’re advising people to reserve their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
“Then, settle down with a drink from the fully stocked bar and be prepared to laugh your socks off.”
