WHEN guests at a reception to celebrate the marriage of Paul and Debbie Lefort from Waldron’s The Star Inn toasted the happy couple, they good-naturedly called out ‘at last.’
Paul, landlord of The Star confessed: “I first met Debbie about 35 years ago when we were at Heathfield School. We were together from the age of about 17 until we were 21 then just drifted apart although we stayed friends.”
The couple married other people; Paul has three children, Amie, William and George from his marriage and Debbie has two daughters, Fleur and Lavinia. All five joined Paul, Debbie and 150-plus guests at a garden party in the grounds of The Star on Saturday evening, (July 28.) Live bands played, there was Champagne and Pimms to drink, a giant marquee and the chef laid on a sumptuous buffet.
The couple tied the knot at Lewes Register Office on July 19 before close family and friends, enjoyed lunch afterwards at the English Wine Centre before heading off for a night at Belle Tout Lighthouse near Beachy Head. Paul said: “The 360-degree views were absolutely fabulous.” They completed their long-awaited marriage with a stay in the New Forest.
