A storm tank collapsed in Lewes today (Monday December 23) spilling waste water which was heavily diluted with rainwater.
Southern Water said at this stage it was unsure what had caused the structure to collapse in Ham Lane.
A Southern Water spokesman said: “A storm tank has collapsed at our Ham Lane pumping station in Lewes.
“The tank contained wastewater which was heavily diluted with rainwater.
“We have a team on site who have diverted flows away from the tank and arranged tankers to clear up.”
