THE SUMMER Show for Polegate Gardeners Society witnessed the scent of sweet peas and roses filling St John’s Church Hall.

A very good display of pansies was reported in the general section along with other flowers. There were also a number of entries in the top vase competition which is sponsored by Thompson and Morgan. Fruit and vegetables swelled that section and made a great display of lovely fresh produce along with the vases of mixed culunary herbs.

The domestic section had a splendid variety of sweet scones, biscuits, and mouthwatering cakes, together with cheese straws and vegetarian dishes.

Members entering the decorative section showed their usual artistic talent for interpreting the titles of the exhibits, especially ‘My Fair Lady’.

The trophies were presented by Fred Gay, president of the society.
