Surgeon pens tale of Crowborough centre

Have your say

The first surgeon to perform an operation at Crowborough’s Horder Centre has turned author to publish a 60-year history of the organisation.

Charles Gallannaugh, who worked at the orthopaedic centre from 1989 until 2005 when he retired, is still a trustee of the charity Horder Healthcare. Two years ago he began a journey to produce an historical account of the organisation and the result is ‘Another Way – The Horder Centre Sixty Years of Evolution’ which was launched this week.

The story features an impressive selection of photographs including visits from Princess Margaret, former president of The Horder Centre. The book costs £9.95 from the Centre coffee shop or ordered online at: All proceeds go to the charity.
