When Victoria Young sold her home to set up Front Room in Seaford, she was setting out on an adventure where she followed her dreams.
She had always wanted to run a cafe ever since she was a little girl and after having three children, she decided she wanted to do something different.
Since setting up the business in July 2013 the cafe has proved popular with residents.
It is designed to make them feel as if they are entering their own front room where they are taken care of and made to feel at home.
Victoria, 33, said: “The reaction has been amazing. People just love it.
“They love the effort that has been put into the dishes.
“It has always been one of my dreams to own a cafe.
“I was always playing shop and cafe when I was little.
“I’m elated really. I was so pleased. We have just had such a difficult week and I just got this news [cafe of the year] and it was the cherry on the cake for what has been a very hard year.”
The cafe has a garden so boasts 60 covers in the summer and 30 in the winter when it is too cold for alfresco dining.
She has also recently opened another cafe in Seaford’s new library.
Victoria, who said she even missed coming to work when she was on holiday, added: “I absolutely love the job. I’m so privileged to be able to come to work and love what I do.”
