A TAG RUGBY event for able bodied and disabled children of all ages will take place on June 23. Buddies – a group set up to support autistic spectrum youngsters has joined forces with Heathfield and Waldron Rugby Club to organise the day, the first of its kind.
Buddies founder, Darren Crozier from Heathfield said: “We want to bring able-bodied children and children with disabilities together. Getting them to focus on working as a team will hopefully help them learn not to stigmatise people who experience difficulties or barriers in their lives.”
He points out getting children involved in sport, irrespective of their age or disability, means they develop communication skills and become better equipped to meet future challenges. Buddies is a support charity that specialises in autistic children and families, buddy support, respite, assessment, challenging behaviour, communication, resources, information and friendly advice.
