CAR THIEVES targeted 15 vehicles in a spate of break-ins at Hailsham and Stone Cross last weekend.
Some six vehicles were broken into in Hailsham and goods stolen on Saturday, February 25.
The next day another nine vehicles were targeted in Stone Cross.
Police said that on each occasion an ‘untidy search’ was made inside the vehicles. Stolen items ranged from sat navs to sunglasses.
Chief inspector Richard Coates, the Wealden District police commander, said that in all but one of the car break-ins the vehicles were not secure.
He said: “This is a timely reminder to all vehicle owners to ensure they secure their cars and vans. Don’t leave valuable items inside your car and consider where you park it at night time.
“My team are working extremely hard to identify the offender/s and I would ask anyone with any information to call us straight away.”
The local neighbourhood policing team is now patrolling the areas, delivering car crime leaflets to residents. Neighbourhood officers can also be contacted via www.sussex.police.uk.
If you have any information regarding these incidents phone Wealden police on 101 quoting serial 0156 of February 24.
