The next concert in Chichester’s Music on Sundays series will be given by the Fujita Piano Trio from Japan.
Series spokesman Raymond Greenless said: “They are three sisters who studied in England and have since built an impressive international career. My wife Jean and I first met them many years ago when Arisa (violin) and Honoka (cello) were studying at the Guildhall School of Music. Megumi studied the piano at the Menhuin School and later at the Royal College of Music with Irina Zaritskaya.
“Jean gave them one of their first engagements, when she was Chairman of the Herts & Essex Concert Club. Since then they have played in more than 100 venues in the UK; and overseas they have given concerts in Canada, France, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, Morocco and in their native Japan.
“In 2006 they paid a return visit to the Wigmore Hall in the Coffee Concert Series and in 2007 they performed the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the Kyoto Philharmonic Orchestra. They are shortly to make a tour of Sweden and have recorded the Dvorak & Smetana Piano Trios on the Swedish label Intim Musik
“In their Concert for Music on Sundays on February 24, they will play the famous Dumky Trio by Dvorak, and Ravel’s masterpiece for Piano Trio, as well as a Trio in C by Haydn. The concert starts at 2.30 pm in Christ Church, Old Market Avenue [off South Street] Chichester PO19 1SW.
