A ‘TOPPING OUT’ ceremony was held for new boarding houses due to open in the Autumn at St Bede’s Senior School in Upper Dicker.

Students gathered to see one of the final beams raised by crane and placed in the roof of what will be their new home next year.

Before the beam was raised it was signed by the Headmaster, Dr Richard Maloney, Mr David Ashe the architect, Mr Martin Stillmanon behalf of constructors Kier and the current heads of Crossways and Stud Houses, Lara Williams and Josh Yang and the Head of School Jack Ellisdon.

After signing, the beam it was covered with the St Bede’s and Kier flags. As the beam was slowly raised a trio of trumpets played until the beam was placed at the highest point of the building.

After the ceremony students were invited to look around their new home in small groups with hard hats on.
