PEACEHAVEN Town Council and Meridian Community Primary School Council are teaming up to decide how best to spend almost £20,000 on improving two play areas.
Some £7,000 will be spent on new play equipment at Firle Road recreation ground and £12,000 on new play equipment in Epinay Park in north Peacehaven.
Representatives from the town council have met with deputy head Louise Dollings and 26 children from the school council to choose new play equipment for Epinay Park.
The children had a fantastic time looking through a variety of play equipment catalogues and have come up with a shortlist of their favorite pieces of play equipment that they would like to see in the park.
A further session is planned for March when the children will narrow down and price up their choices.
Town Clerk Kevin Kingston said: “It was fantastic to be able to work with the children at the school, all of whom were really enthusiastic to get involved in choosing play equipment for their local park.”
Mrs Dollings added: “The school was really pleased that the children were able to get involved in the project and the children are really looking forward to see some of their ideas put in place in their local park.”
