Collision kills Hailsham woman

A Hailsham woman died after her car was in a collision on the B2104 Ersham Road south of Hailsham on Sunday evening (August 25).

The 74-year-old woman was driving a blue Hyundai IX20 that was in collision with a black Peugeot 207 driven by a 40-year-old man, also from Hailsham, who was treated for bruising and shock.

A 70-year-old man who was a passenger in the Hyundai was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with a broken hand and injured sternum.

He was kept in overnight and left hospital yesterday (Monday) morning.

A ten-year-old girl and two men aged 21 and 34, all from Hailsham, were also taken to the RSCH and were released after treatment.

The road was closed until just before midnight while rescue, recovery and investigation work took place and spilt engine fluids were treated and cleared.
