Seaford man dies in motorbike accident

A 20-year-old Seaford man who was riding a Kawasaki motorbike died at the scene of a collison this afternoon (Tuesday February 7) on the Ditchling Road, Brighton at around 3.55pm.

His pillion passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Newhaven, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.

The motorbike was in collision with a moving bus, resulting in a further collision with some street furniture.

Sergeant Clare Kenward from the Roads Policing Unit: “Our thoughts are with the family of the young man who has sadly died and with the injured woman, who remains in a very serious condition in hospital.

“If you witnessed the collision or saw the bus or motorbike prior to the incident, please call 101 quoting Op Smallfield.”

Sussex Police would like to thank drivers and members of the public for their patience and support this afternoon whilst the Ditchling Road remained closed for several hours.
